5th September-11th September 101 Street Play
Kirti College NSS Unit Conducted 101 Play during Ganesh Chaturthi. The Topic of 101 Play was water conservation. The main objective was to spread awareness on water conservation. There were total 2 groups Following points were highlighted in the street play –
- Wastage of Water
- Scarcity of Water
- Needy to Save Water
- Affects Due to Urbanisation.
Plays Were Performed in Dadar, Worli, Vile parle, Matunga, Vikhroli, Santacruz, Prabhadevi, Parel, Tilak Nagar, Ghatkopar, Kurla, Charni Road, Kalachowki, Sayani Road, Mankur.
Unit Cleaning Activity
Kirti college NSS unit conducts the activity of Unit Cleaning once in a month. Around 15 volunteers always take part in the activity. The volunteers also clean the college premises while doing the activity.
Weekly activity each Sunday. Kirti Kiran
Every Sunday street children are being brought by NSS volunteers from Dadar railway station to kirti college. As soon as they enter the premises, they play some outdoor game, in the campus like cricket, kho-kho, kabaddi, etc. and indoor games like carom. These children are made to clean themselves and then have a session of yoga and prayer which are conducted by NSS volunteers .This is followed by an educational session in which these children are taught basic courses in languages like English, Hindi and Marathi, elementary subjects like mathematics, history, geography, science, literature general knowledge, Indian studies, etc. They are given basic knowledge of environment. students are made to perform skits or songs. Their talents are also garnered through painting, rangoli competition and handicrafts. At the end of the session these children are fed with wholesome nutritious food like poha and khichdi which is homemade. After that we leave them to their place. Festivals like Diwali are celebrated by distributing sweets and faral, Christmas by distributing sweets and clothes, New year by distributing slate and pencil to needy children. This is one of the best examples of students being included in the tradition of human servicer.
Nav Kirti
We conducted nav kirti project from 29th September to 07 October 2019. Where the volunteers celebrated each colour in a different way with a social cause. Like red for information on menstrual cycle, green for tree plantation, yellow for gender justice and so on.
Day 1 : Topic : Oath on swachhta, ahimsa and shantata
Colour : White
Our NSS unit conducted an activity of cleaning the surrounding area. This activity was in college and near college areas. We cleaned our unit and surrounding and also the roadside area of our college.
Day 2 : Topic : Session on Menstrual Cycle
Colour : Red
NSS Unit conducted a session on Menstrual Cycle by Kirti college biology teachers. They gave us information about menstrual cycle, diseases and solutions also doubts were solved for the same. The session ended by their vote of thanks to them.
Day 3 : Topic :- Session on LGBTQ
Colour : Yellow
NSS unit conducted a session on LGBTQ. This session was taken by a MAVA member Omkar Wakkar. He explained about MAVA NGO and also shared some information and stories and situations of LGBTQ community members. The motive of this session was to spread awareness and try to support LGBTQ community.
Day 4 : Topic : Beach Cleaning
Colour : Royal Blue
Kirti college NSS Unit conducted an activity of Bleach Cleaning at Dadar beach. The activity was in early morning. The activity between mid of the morning.
Day 5 : Topic : Tree plantation
Colour : Green
Kirti college NSS unit conducted an activity tree plantation in Kirti college. Volunteers were divided in two groups. The volunteers were supposed to dig pits for the plants. Then the saplings were planted. The main motive of the drive was not just to plant trees but to also look after them after they were planted.
Day 6 : Topic : Self Defence
Colour : Grey
Kirti college NSS Unit conducted an activity of Self Defence. Our Chief Guest and Trainer taught us the techniques of attack and defence to all volunteers even boys too. The motive was to that every volunteer or student must protect themselves from any type of problem especially physical attack problem.
Day 7 : Topic : Personality Development
Colour : Peacock Green
Kirti college NSS unit conducted a session of Personality development by life member. Deccan Education Society Minal Mapuskar. She explained us the importance of goal deciding and also motivated us to achieve the goal successfully.
NSS Unit conducted an activity on the occasion of Dr Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary, on 15th October 2019.It was a very good inspiring experience to give tribute to our Dr Abdul Kalam on their birth anniversary.
26 January to 1St February 2020
Pride Week
Kirti college NSS unit started a new project called pride week. The main motive was to spread awareness on LGBTQ community and show our support towards them. Our unit also conducted an activity of poster making. Volunteers were provided drawing papers to all the participants. The posters and slogans made were in support and respect to LGBTQ community. The motive of this activity to use this poster in the rally. The volunteers conducted an activity of making a Greeting card. We also conducted a fun and attractive Game session. In this, volunteers expressed their views by playing games. The motive of this session was to understand what is gender and the view of people towards it. Our unit volunteers performed a Street play to support the LGBTQ community. The play was performed near Suvidha famous shop at Dadar Station, Lastly the NSS Volunteers Participated in Pride Rally at Azad Maidan. The Main Motive was to Show our Support, Love and Respect to LGBTQ Community.
6th to 12th February
Oral Cancer Week
Kirti College NSS unit started a New Project named ‘Oral Cancer Week’. The main motive to start this project was to spread awareness on Oral Cancer. As Oral Cancer stands in first three Cancer’s in India on this occasion the volunteers took a pledge on acceptance of Cancer patients and precautions on Oral Cancer. Further the volunteers conducted an activity of Poster Making. In which Volunteers made a Poster based on Oral Cancer, they highlighted precautions to be taken to avoide cancer.
As part of this programme the unit conducted an interactive session on oral cancer awareness and Dental Check-up campaign with Indian Dental Association (IDA)
Lastly our unit performed a street play about Oral Cancer. The play covered all the symptoms, effects and solution about Oral Cancer. The play was near Siddhi-Vinayak temple, opposite to IDA building.
14th to 18th February 2020
We conducted the Valentine week activity to display the love, respect, support to the people who really need love like street animals, nature, patients, beggars, etc.
The volunteers distributed the greeting cards to Non-Teaching Staff. The main motive to distribute Greeting Cards was to show love, and respect towards them.
We also conducted an interactive session with blind students .Where volunteers on trained them by singing songs.

Crowd Management
Kirti College NSS unit conducted a crowd management activity as per the Annual function of Kirti College, ‘Kirti Cheers’. Volunteers managed the crowd very properly and tried to avoid the arguments between them. All the volunteers enjoyed doing this activity.

Kirti Kiran
Kirti Kiran project is mainly for street children who ran away from their homes or live on street with their parents, etc. This year the project was lead by second year NSS volunteer Ms. Neha Khan and First year NSS volunteer Mr. Parmeshwar Ufade. They, with the team of volunteers namely Ms. Nisha Humbre, Ms. Mayuri Jadhav, Ms. Manasi Berde, Mr. Rishikesh Khnnojiya, Mr. Nishit Vishwakarma, Mr. Ritesh Mangoankar, Mr. Darshan Kalambe initiated a survey to find such children in almost every railway stations located in Mumbai and found about 25 street children. Every Sunday, the street children are brought to Kirti college and we interact with them so as to develop positive attitude among these street children towards life. Our volunteers not only teach them their academic subjects but also teach social ethics, Meditation, Yoga, Sports, Dance, Drawing etc. This project is under the supervision of NSS program officer initiated Mr. Ankush Dalvi and Ms. Mrinalini Chavan.

Say No To Plastic
Our unit has initiated a Drive called “Say No To Plastic”. This project has been started from the year 2017 in association with ‘Global Enviro Solution’.
This year, the project was launched under title “Bottle for Change” with Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd. under guidance of university of Mumbai. In this project we collected around 50-70 kg plastic bottles and sent it for recycling.
The volunteers actively participated in this drive are Mr. Sahil Rane, Mr. Ritesh Kadam, Mr. Kunal Gaikwad, Ms. Neha Khan, Ms. Bhakti Shirke.
Selfless Selfie Drive (Kolhapur Food Relief)
This project has been started from the year 2018. In this project, our volunteers use to collect Books, Cloths and Toys from the college students, college teachers & non-teaching staff and donate it to the street children. This year, we collected the material for Kolhapur and Sangli Flood victims. Kirti college NSS volunteers collected food material, Cloths, Dry Fruits, Sanitary Napkins, medicines,water bottles, etc. and donated it to the peoples affected by floods. Professor Priyanka Jinagouda and students from BMS department also actively participated.
Nirmalaya Composting Project ( Aug , 2019)
This year our Unit has prepare Nirmalaya composting tank in our college premises. Volunteers collected Nirmalaya from Dadar Chowpathy among 10 days of Ganesh Festival and putted it for composting. The leading volunteers in this project are Mr Suraj Bhosale, Mr. Girish Desai, Ms. Sejal Kolamkar, Ms. Nisha Humbre, Mr. Shubhm Surve and Mr. Parmeshawar Ufade.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Gaav Tithe Granthalay (University Project)
This is one of the major activity of this year. NSS cell University of Mumbai. NSS unit, started a library at our adopted village Umroli, Panvel, Raigad on 2nd Oct 2019 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
We collected around 1000 books from Principal, Vice-principals, professors, administrative staff and volunteers of our college.
24th Sept, 2019
On the occasion of semi Centennial celebration of NSS in India, Kirti College ,NSS Unit organized University level intercollegiate competition. ‘The Magnificent Five’ from 19-24th Sept, 2019, which was a five days, series of NSS activity in which Kirti College NSS Unit organized various competitions, dealing with daunting social issues and awareness viz: T-shirt Painting, Poster making, Elocution, Rally and Talent Hunt dealing.
On 24th September 2019, on the occasion of the semiscentinnial celebration of the NSS day, the NSS unit organized ‘The Magnificent Five Program’ on 5th day. A grand celebration and prize distribution of’ The Magnificent Five’ competition event an also organised. Miss. Naweli Deshmukh, a brand ambassador forsed NSS, Govt of Maharashtra, a youth icon, miss Indian pageant runner up, a philonthropher , and an internationally recognized face in the fashion industry at national and international level, had been invited as the chief guest on the occasion of the Semiscentinnial Celebration NSS day on, 24th Sept 2019,from 10am to 12 pm.
SOME OTHER PROJECTS
Eco-Club
This year we conducted University Level “Save Trees, Save Environment” Rally from the Kirti College to Portuguese church via Sidhivinayak mandir, Dadar. In this rally, 8 colleges and 180 volunteers were involved.
Our NSS unit celebrated ‘Vanmahotsav’ from 1st July 2019 to 7th July 2019. Volunteers conducted poster competition and Exhibition on ‘Save Trees Save Environment’ at college level on 1st and 3rd July 2019 respectively. On 5th July 2019, our NSS unit organised a lecture on ‘Environment Depletion’ by Prof. Smita Jadhav. On 6th July 2019, Kirti College NSS unit organised a poster competition for Deaf students of Pragati Vidyalaya, Dadar (W), Mumbai.
In Vanmahotsav programme, Kirti college volunteers prepared two tree models namely Hirave and Haritkanya in college campus to spread a message of importance of trees.
Our NSS unit initiated tree plantation drive at village Dhasai, Murbad where they planted about 20 trees on 14th July 2019.
On 28th July 2019, our NSS unit planted 300 saplinga at adopted village Umroli.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
Kirti college NSS volunteer participated in Swachta Bharat Abhiyan. Some of the activities are Beach cleaning at Dadar beach, Chaityabhumi Beach cleaning and Mahim Beach cleaning , Oath on Swacchta Bharat Abhiyan, Beach cleaning with Indian Coast Guard (21st Sept, 2019), Beach cleaning after Ganpati Visarjan with Astitva Foundation.
Health And Hygiene
Under this project, we have conducted Blood Donation Camp, 16 days Leprosy survey with BMC G-North and Pulse Polio Drive. Polio dose was administered to 1200 children.

Bamboo Rakhi selling
Our NSS unit was involved in selling handmade Bamboo Rakhi prepared by Adivasi Mahila under the aegis of Vivek Rural Development Centre NGO Bhalivali (Bamboo handicraft products). Volunteers sold about 200 bamboo rakhis namely Ganga, Saraswati, Kaveri and Godavari among the college students, teachers and staff.
Anti-Addiction Drive
In this project we endeavoured to spread awareness about the ineffects of drug addiction. During this project our volunteers performed street plays on topic ‘Anti-addiction’ in our college.
Gender Sensitization
Our NSS unit worked on Gender Sensitization with MAVA NGO (Men Against Violence and Abuse).
Training Of Nss Program Officer
Ms Mrinalini Chavan, NSS Program Officer, completed her NSS Program Officer’s Training (7 Days) in month of Aug,2019 at Empanelled Training Institute National Service Scheme, BPHT Society’s Ahmednagar College, Ahmednagar.

- Two volunteers namely, Mr. Omkar Pravin Mhatre and Ms. Radhika Arun Supal, participated in State Level Disaster Management training Camp, “Avhan” at Swami Ramanand Tirth Marathwada University, Nanded from 3rd June 2019 to 12th June, 2019.
- One volunteer namely, Ms. Bhakti Shirke was participated in State Level Socio Cultural Camp “UTKARSH” from 28th -31st January 2020 at Bahinabai Chaudhari N1orth Maharashtra University, Jalgaon.
- One volunteer, Kirti Bargode participated in 7 days’ State Level Camp ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ from 12 January to 18 January 2020 at Mhaskal (Titwala) organised by SST College Ulhasnagar And NSS University of Mumbai
- Four volunteers namely, Pooja Mahadik, Vaishnavi Chordhekar, Meghna Aglave, Sahil Rane were participated in MAVA THEATRE WORKSHOP from 26th Nov – 30th Nov 2019 Camp at Sane Guruji Rastriya Smarak, Vadghar, Mangaon, organized by MAVA NGO
- Volunteers namely, Sapna Kharwar (SYBA), Shubham Surve (SYBSc), Nisha Humre (FYBAF), Mayur Kharavatekar (FYBA), Parmeshwar Ufade (FYBA), Nishit Vishwakarma (FYBSc IT), Dipesh Gawade (FYBCom), Neha Tryambake (FYBCom) participated in State Level Swami Vivekananda Youth Leadership Camp organized by Swami Vivekanand Kendra at Nashik from 25th to 29th December 2019.
- Two volunteers namely, Mr Sahil Rane and Ms Bhakti Golatkar participated in university level Leadership Training Camp 2019 from 15th Sept to 19th Sep 2019 at Swand Yog Mahatma Gandhi VidyaMandir, Badlapur organised by NSS Mumbai of University.
SEVEN DAYS SPECIAL RESIDENTIAL CAMP
Kirti College NSS Unit organized a Seven days Residential Camp from 2nd Feb, 2020 to 8th Feb, 2020 at- Umroli, Post:- Vaje, District:- Raigad, Taluka:- Panvel.
The volunteers constructed 5 soak pits, each soak pit was dug upto a depth of 6 feet, which was beneficial for the villagers for disposing off the waste water. Each day started with warm up and Exercise followed by a Yoga session. The NSS unit organized different sessions on various topics like ‘Leadership’ by Swati kulkarni [Vivekanand Kanya Kendra], ‘Superstition’ by Rajendra Koli, ‘Consent in Relationship’ by Altamash [MAVA NGO], ‘Team Management and Team Building session’ by Prof. Irshad Shaikh [Kirti College].
Volunteers also visited Shantivan – A Place for leprosy patient and Karuneshwar old age home. The Volunteers also did awareness among the villagers through street play competition on various topics like Superstition, Digital India and Gender Sensitisation, Poster making competition on various topics like Superstition, Swacch Bharat, Gender Justice, Cashless India, Plastic Free Society, Poverty Free India etc.
A rally was conducted by our volunteers to make the villagers aware about “Save trees, Save Environment” through streetplay and slogan chanting Another rally was conducted on the topic “Superstition”, where not only the volunteers participated but also the children of the village.
