History

The Department of History has been established since the inception of the college in 1954-1955. The mission of the department is: To study history is not merely to amass information, but to use information in constructing a vivid picture of how and why human beings acted as they did, achieved their successes, and faced their failures.

1. Field Visit to the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Byculla, on 23rd July 2025.
2. Field Visit to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum, Byculla, on 19th September 2025.
3. Workshop on Brahmi and Modi Scripts on Monday, 19th January 2026.
4. State Level Seminar on “Deciphering History Through Ramayan, Mahabharat and Bhagavad Geeta” on 9th February 2026.
5. Workshop on Ancient Games titled “Krida Kosha: Exploring India’s Gaming Heritage” on 26th February 2026.
6. Book Review Session on the book entitled Sabhasad Bakhar, 20th June, 2025. by Mr. Swapnil Mhatre, a student of SYBA (History).
