- Computer Science department of Kirti College came into existence in 1999 with the future need of creating competent software engineers and entrepreneurs. The Department has achieved several milestones and produced the IT professionals and entrepreneurs in the Indian and multinational companies in last 20 years with a social responsibilities and values.
- Our department’s stated goal is to give students a top-notch technical education that will enable them to reach the pinnacles of technology. The Department of Computer Science has labs built with cutting-edge software and high configuration computers needed for teaching, learning, and research. The department head strives to provide students with a top-notch education across a wide range of computer technology disciplines.
- Our faculty members have done exemplary research work and some are about to complete their Phd. in this year. The senior faculty members are playing a role of committee members in various committees of University of Mumbai.
- Since the inception of the department, we organize the annual IT festival “HORIZON” in association with computer science, wherein Principles and concepts of Information Technology are demonstrated with the working applications or models, designed by the students under the guidance of teachers. Students from other colleges do visit this festival and makes it a grand success. Also, they appreciate the effort of the department faculty and students. Every year response of the visitors is over whelming.
- Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia and Mass Communication
- The 3-year UG course in BAMMC has been designed to train and equip students with the ability to research, study and creatively present information over different channels of media. Through the 3-year curriculum of BAMMC, students will be trained to communicate effectively through communication channels like television, radio, newspapers, internet and much more. Moreover, the curriculum will be unique across mass media colleges in India, where students will be able to uniquely instil qualities and expertise in different areas of media.
- Certificate Course in Defence Journalism
- This course offered by the BAMMC Department in affiliation with FINS (Forum for Integrated National Security) focuses on Programmes, Policies and Activities of the ministry and armed forces, and analyse the various angles of the stories, and to identify the subjects, formations and activities covered by journalist in peace and war times and analyse the levels of the disbursement of official press releases and information in other formats. The students will be trained in strategic thinking, journalistic skills, military history, media and military relations, and Nation’s war history over more than 30 learning hours.
- Upcoming: Master of Arts in Communication and Journalism (starts from Academic Year 2023-2024)
- This programme combines both theory and practical that will help students learn and practice the important tenets of communication and journalism. Students are introduced to Communication, Media and Journalism related courses. The learning will also involve practical approach in each subject so as to train the students with hands on experience in journalism. The course will culminate with dissertations that involve continuous evaluation of thesis through appropriate research methodologies.

Aditi Mhatre, a student of Computer Science, competed in the junior state archery championship in Tirora, Gondia, in October 2022.
She won a gold medal in archery at the Uttar Mumbai Krida Mohotsav on November 27, 2022.
Student of Computer Science Pratik Pansare represented Mumbai in the powerlifting competition held in Nagpur from November 21 to 24, 2022, and finished in second place. Also he got selected for the Nationals.
