Department is known for its landmark annual events such as A.D.Shroff Elocution Competition every year in collaboration with Forum of Free Enterprise, a non-profit organization, Mumbai. The Cash Prize worth Rs. 5000/- (for first three speakers) and certificates to first five best speakers are sponsored by the Forum. The basic objective of this competition is to encourage college students to think and speak on economic and related subjects, besides enabling them to demonstrate their speaking abilities. We had inter-collegiate winners in competition to our credit. The department of Economics organized students’ visits to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) as part of the Field Visit. This is an attempt to bridge the gap between theory and application. Career Guidance Workshops are also conducted to guide young minds for future prospects. An attempt to prepare students not only academic-wise but also from a job market point of view. All activities get good response from the students. Young Women Entrepreneurial Talent Hunt, an annual event organized under the joint collaboration of the Department of Economics, Women Development Cell (WDC), and the Library. In this event girl students present and sell various self-hand made products such as eatables, handicraft items etc. This event gets a thundering response in terms of product appreciation and handsome profit made by the participants. We also conduct Guest lectures from time to time to bridge the gap between theory and application.
