The B.Com Programme was introduced in the academic year 1979-80 and a division of F.Y.B.Com was launched. The Department of Accountancy came into existence in the same year. The former head of the department was Prof. V. B. Kawatkar. The Accountancy department has produced the galaxy of eminent personalities like CA Girish Jain, entrepreneurs Mr. Arvind Jain and Mr. Bhausaheb Shinde.

The programme promotes critical thinking and problem-solving abilities by encouraging students to analyze business problems, interpret results, and apply appropriate solutions. Research-related skills such as searching, organizing, evaluating, and presenting relevant information are integrated into various courses to strengthen analytical capabilities. Ethical awareness and moral reasoning are emphasized to help students recognize unethical practices and promote responsible behaviour in business and society. In addition, the curriculum has been encouraging students through assignments and independent studies. Course Outcomes are carefully aligned with Programme Outcomes to ensure that each course contributes to the overall development of knowledge, skills, and professional competence.

As per the National Education Policy 2020, the Department of Commerce has started the Commerce subject as a Major subject for B. Com programme from the academic year 2025-26.

1. Orientation Programme for FYBCOM Students: Orientation Programme was conducted to brief the students about the Course, Course Structure, Examinations, Rules and Regulations, Placement Opportunities and overall information about the Department and the College.

2. Financial Awareness Programme under Srujan Fest : Srujan is the Academic Fest conducted by the College in Mid September. Under Srujan Fest Department of Commerce and Accountancy conducted Financial Awareness Programme in association with SEBI to create and promote financial awareness among students and to motivate them to start with the investments for future.

3. Campus to Corporate Workshop under PM Usha: Department of Commerce, Accountancy, Innovation and Incubation Cell successfully conducted the workshop on Campus to Corporate under PM Usha funds to give the students a practical exposure of the Corporate Field and to develop and modify them at the college level so that they are able to make a successful Career in the Corporate.

2024-25

The departments of Accountancy and Commerce jointly organized a guest lecture on the topic “UNION BUDGET 2024-25โ€ on Monday, 2nd Sept. 2024 at 8.30 a.m. at 0.8 Auditorium. The Guest Speaker was Prof. Dr. Jayant Apte, FCA, Former Principal and HOD of Accountancy, Ghanshyamdas Saraf College of Commerce & Arts, Malad (E), Mumbai. He focused on the current situation of the economy as well as the highlights of the provisions of the Budget to keep up our economy.
