The Department of Economics of Kirti College was established in 1954 with the inception of Kirti College. In 1979, Business Economics was introduced in the Commerce Stream of College. In 2021, it expanded its wings to Post Graduate Course i.e. M.A. in Economics. Department has achieved several milestones and produced a galaxy of eminent personalities.

- The Economics Department of Kirti College promotes academic excellence through diverse activities.
- Organizes the A. D. Shroff Memorial Elocution Competition to develop public speaking, critical thinking, and awareness of current economic issues.
- Conducts Srujan, an academic festival featuring guest lectures by experts from academia and industry.
- Arranges field visits to institutions like the Reserve Bank of India, National Stock Exchange, Bombay Stock Exchange, rice research centres, and the Institute of Insurance for practical exposure.
- Encourages postgraduate students to undertake dissertations, enhancing research and analytical skills.
- Organizes workshops on research methodology for both UG and PG students to build strong research capabilities.
- These activities ensure holistic development, industry exposure, and academic enrichment of students.
